WEREGUE

Is a collection based on hand-made accessories using a natural material called WEGUER, which is dry palm leaves, pertaining to one of the largest palms of all South America.

Weguer is mainly used by the indigenous ethnic group Embera-Wounaan, from Choco, Colombia. The Embera-Wounaan, themselves extract the leaves, dry them and create plant based, non-toxic dyes.

With this natural material some of the most indigenous Colombian emblematic designs are woven into home items such as large baskets and trays or plates. Nowadays, these designs have been implemented on accessories; bracelets, earrings, headbands etc.

This is the artwork and traditional design of the indigenous Embera-Wounaan, through OLT.
